Library & Research
Reading
Jefferson County Public Library
We partner with JCPL to get print books into our K-12 students' hands. To get your own Jeffco Public Library card, you can go online and be issued a temporary one today! This card only permits access to online library resources, so students under 17 will need to visit any Jeffco Public Library branch with a parent for a card that lets you check out print books.
Sora by OverDrive App
Sora is a digital library app all Jeffco students in grades K-12 can access in their Google apps menu and use to check out eBooks and audiobooks. There are thousands of titles available on Sora through a partnership with Jefferson County Public Library, so students can borrow just-right books for them with the click of a mouse!
Epic
Welcome to Epic! -- a digital library where kids can explore their interests and learn with instant, unlimited access to 25,000 high-quality ebooks, audiobooks, learning videos, and quizzes for kids 12 and under.
Tumble Book Library
Tumble Book Library is an online collection of ebooks, enhanced novels, graphic novels, videos and audio books for students in elementary grades.
Research
Jeffco Public Libraries
If you do not have your own Jeffco Public Library card, JRLP has online-only access cards for our students at all grade levels to use for research and exploring databases. Ask your teacher for a library card number and PIN that you can use for your research project or assignment.
How to access Jeffco Public Libraries databases:
- Log in with your library card number and PIN (in the upper right on the home page where it says Log In/My Account)
- Go to “Online Library”
- Go to the "Kids & Families" link or “Teens” link, depending on your grade level
- Click "Browse Online Library"
- From there you can search by Format or Topic, or find the database you're looking for in the A - Z Resources menu
Meet JRLP's Librarian
Hello! I'm Melissa Nye, JRLP's Digital Teacher Librarian, and I'm thrilled to be part of JRLP students' and families' learning in the DTL role this year. In addition to helping make sure every student has a working device to use for learning, I also support JRLP students and teachers with reading and research resources as well as digital tools and apps. I've been teaching secondary ELA at JRLP since our program's beginning in the fall of 2021, and prior to that I taught secondary ELA at Bear Creek K-8 for twelve years. Currently, I'm working on my Master's in Literacy Education with a Teacher Librarian Endorsement through the University of Colorado - Denver. This all keeps me pretty busy, but when I'm not in teacher or student mode, I'm in mom mode! I have two middle school-aged daughters who still, at least for the moment, enjoy hanging out with me. I'm usually at the JCRL building every Wednesday afternoon for Chromebook support, so stop by and see me sometime!
